Official Statement From NYS Senate Candidate Lea Webb

""Half a century's worth of progress has been reversed over the course of 24 hours. Overturning Roe v. Wade will not end abortion in the United States. It will only end safe abortions. I am glad New York acted swiftly in 2019 to make abortion fully-legal in our state, however we need Congress to intervene on behalf of the thousands of people across the country who do not live in such a state. It is not right, it's an injustice for people to be stripped of their autonomy and agency over their own bodies. Congress must put politics aside and make abortion legal and safe in the United States. In New York we also have an opportunity to do more to ensure equitable access to reproductive care. I encourage the Governor and the State Legislature to call for a special session to pass a constitutional amendment to secure our reproductive rights. Protecting and increasing access to reproductive care is a top priority for me and for people in our district."
