New York State Federation of Democratic Women Endorses Senator Lea Webb for Reelection to NY State Senate

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

September 25, 2024

Southern Tier, NY - Today, Senator Lea Webb (D, NY-52) announced that she has been endorsed by the New York State Federation of Democratic Women. NYSFDW is the latest organization dedicated to women’s equality to come out in support of Senator Webb’s reelection campaign. She has been endorsed by Eleanor’s Legacy, Planned Parenthood, and Family Planning Action Fund of South Central New York.

Said Denise Murphy McGraw, President, NYS Federation of Democratic Women, “In just her first term in office, Senator Lea Webb has come to epitomize legislative and constituent service excellence in New York.  Her tireless work ethic, empathy, and curiosity about all those around her make her exactly the kind of legislator we are eager to support. I am looking forward to seeing all she will accomplish in her next term."

“I am honored to receive the endorsement of the New York State Federation of Democratic Women,” said Senator Lea Webb. “The NYSFDW works to empower women in NYS politics and government, ensuring that women are represented in all levels of government. We are fighting for our freedoms in a post-Dobbs world and we must do everything we can to protect our bodily autonomy and expand access to reproductive healthcare. I will continue to deliver on my promise to ensure New York remains a sanctuary for reproductive rights.”

In 2022, Senator Lea Webb was elected to represent the newly drawn 52nd Senate District, which includes all of Cortland and Tompkins Counties, and part of Broome County. She was sworn into office in January of 2024 as part of a historic class of incoming Democratic senators made up entirely of women for the first time in the 245-year history of the New York Senate.

During her first term, Webb voted to advance a Constitutional Amendment to always protect a woman’s right to choose. As chair of the Senate Committee on Women’s Issues, she has passed legislation addressing a wide range of issues impacting women, including menstrual product accessibility, improved maternity health services, reinforced reproductive rights, enhanced protection against fibroids and ovarian cancer, and stringent measures to prevent human trafficking.

Webb is running for reelection to New York’s 52nd Senate District, which includes Cortland County, Tompkins County, and part of Broome County.
